Biography

Biography

Dr. Furaha Michael Chuma is a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics at the Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE), Faculty of Science, Department of Physics, Mathematics & Informatics, Tanzania. He holds a Bachelor of Education in Mathematics and a master’s degree in mathematical Modelling, both from the University of Dar es Salaam, and a Ph.D. in Computational Mathematics and Engineering from the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology, where he focused on modeling the dynamics, control, and economic impact of Newcastle Disease in village chickens. His research interests are in mathematical modeling, particularly in epidemiology and ecological systems, where he develops and analyzes differential equation models to study disease transmission and evaluate control strategies. Dr. Chuma has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in reputable journals, collaborating with both Tanzanian and international researchers, and his work contributes significantly to applied mathematics, disease modeling, and science education in Tanzania.
