FACULTY OF EDUCATION

The Dean, Faculty of Education (FoED), has pleasure to welcome you to the faculty web page. The faculty is renowned for all professional teaching courses.

It hosts a broad range of courses that aim at building teaching personnel for meeting curriculum and learner needs of the 21st century. The Faculty of Education at DUCE envisions becoming a leading centre for education studies and a gateway to the teaching profession in the region and beyond.

The faculty offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses via its two main departments: the Department of Educational Psychology and Curriculum Studies (EPCS) and the Department of Educational Foundations, Management, and Lifelong Learning (EFMLL).

The undergraduate programmes lead to the award of Bachelor of Education in Science (BED Science), and Bachelor of Education in Arts (BED Arts) while postgraduate programmes leads to the award of Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), Postgraduate Diploma in Guidance and Counselling (PGDGC), Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (ME-ELPS), and Master of Education in Curriculum Studies (MED-CS).

At the end of each academic year, the faculty organises Teaching Practice (TP) on an annual basis. During this time students are posted to different schools across the country to practice their teaching profession. The TP exposes students to the realities of actual teaching and educational administration skills in schools. Students are supervised and assessed accordingly before the final grades are calculated for each.

The faculty is a home to a vast of resources both human and non-human. You will meet academicians with notable experience in teaching, consultancy and research in different fields of education such as educational management, school administration, psychology, foundations, curriculum studies, science education and special education. The faculty also runs demonstration schools. The pre-school and primary school are all English Medium schools.
