Gideon Joseph Matekele is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Geography and Economics within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. He has academic specialization in Geography and Environmental Management. He obtained a Bachelor of Education (Major Geography, Minor English) at the University of Arusha (2021) and a Master of Arts in Geography and Environmental Management at the University of Dar es Salaam (2024). He attended academic research conferences such as the Political Ecology Network Conference (POLLEN24) held at the University of Dodoma (June, 2024) and the 4th Mkwawa International Conference on Sustainable Development: Theory and Practice held at Mkwawa University College of Education (May, 2025). His teaching area includes geography courses and environmental disaster risk management. He has researched on carbon trading and its implications for local community livelihoods. He has research interests on Climate Change and Human Adjustment, Environmental Disaster Risk Management, and Human - economic Geography.
