Dr. Baltazar Safari Awe is a Lecturer in Economics in the Department of Economics and Geography, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Dar es Salaam University College of Education (A Constituent College of the University of Dar es Salaam). He holds a PhD in Economics from The University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. For the past 18 years he has been teaching Introductory Macroeconomics, Intermediate Microeconomics, Monetary Economics and Quantitative Methods, Environmental and Natural Resource Economics and Public Sector Economics.
Apart from Academic roles, Dr. Awe is also a Manager for the Planning and Development Unit. He served at that capacity for around past six years. He has an experience in preparation of plans and budgets and their monitoring and evaluation, coordinating preparation of College contributions to the Budget Speech and Annual Facts and Figures Reports, coordination of preparation of performance contract and its implementation, coordinating the investment and resource mobilization activities, coordinating the preparation of risk register and its implementation action plans, monitoring and disseminating the findings quarterly and annual reports, among many others. He is also serving as College’s Deputy Project Coordinator for Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) Project financed by the World Bank.
