DUCE HEET Project shows remarkable progress, reaches 75% completion
The National HEET Project Coordinator, Dr. Kennedy Hosea, visited DUCE on 10th February 2026. The site visit aimed to review the construction progress of the two buildings designated for Postgraduate Studies and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
During the site visit, the OGM consultant engineer, Peter Kasobare, reported that implementation of the HEET project had reached 75% completion. According to the construction contract, the project is scheduled to be completed by 23rd April 2026. While most activities are on schedule, a few components remain in their final stages due to routine logistical and procurement procedures.
In his address, Dr. Hosea commended the progress made and advised the Institutional Project Implementation Unit (IPIU) to be prepared to receive an upcoming supervision mission from the World Bank and officials from the Ministry of Finance, emphasising the importance of maintaining implementation momentum and proper documentation.
The completion of the two buildings is anticipated to create a more conducive environment for delivering quality education and enhancing the College’s student-friendly atmosphere. The Postgraduate building, covering 2,840 square metres, will include science research laboratories, preparation rooms, science workshops and circulation areas. Correspondingly, the Faculty of Humanities building, covering 1,972 square metres, will feature spaces for students with special needs, offices, lactation room, lecture rooms and seminar rooms.
