Biography

Dr Gabriel John Hinju is a lecturer in the Department of Geography and Economics within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. He holds a PhD in Economics, specialising in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics and Development Economics. He completed both his undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the University of Dar es Salaam, with specialised training in environmental valuation and behavioural economics from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. His teaching areas include Intermediate Microeconomics, Development Economics, Environmental Economics and Quantitative Methods in Economics. His research interests and scholarly work focus on energy, natural resources, environmental, health and development economics.

Solar Heaters, Biomass Fuel Use and Profitability of Enterprises: Experimental Evidence from Tanzania. The research offers essential information to the Government of Tanzania to formulate relevant policy interventions to encourage green transition (2024- 2025).

 

 

 

 

 

The Clean Air Africa project, which investigates the impact of energy-efficient pressure cookers on fuel use, LPG consumption, and health outcomes in Tanzania. The project focuses on improving energy access, environmental sustainability, and public health in East Africa (Ongoing). 

Gendered time-use benefits from improved cooking solutions: A pathway to a new type of development impact bond and cooking solutions market stimulus in Simiyu, Tanzania (2022 – 2023).
