Biography

Perpetua John Urio is a Senior Lecturer, in the Department of Educational Foundations, Management, and Lifelong Learning in the Faculty of Education. She holds a PhD in Education from the University of Dar es salaam, Tanzania. Her research focuses on Educational Leadership, Professional Development, Mentorship, and Gender Issues. Her teaching areas include educational leadership, organizational behavior, total quality management, Organizational effectiveness, and gender and leadership.  Throughout her career, she has assumed several managerial positions at the university, including her role as Head of the Curriculum and Teaching Department at DUCE from January 2006 to July 2007, and as Associate Dean of the Faculty of Education from 2006 until September 2008. Additionally, she served as Acting Dean of the Faculty of Education for a brief period from January to March 2008. Her other roles have included Gender Unit Coordinator from 2006 to September 2008, Gender Focal Person from 2012 to 2014, and Coordinator of Undergraduate Studies from 2012 to 2018. Perpetua is also actively engaged with the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU), where she participates in various tasks, including reviewing curriculum programs from multiple universities and conducting audits and verifications. She collaborates with Michigan State University (MSU) and other educational institutions, including UDSM, SUA, DUCE, and AKF, as part of the Educational Team and serves as the TPP-DUCE Institutional Lead to enhance partnerships.
