Biography

Biography

Abbakary Makinda is an Assistant Lecturer in Social Science/Studies Education and Curriculum Studies within the department of Educational Psychology and Curriculum Studies at Dar es Salaam University College of Education, University of Dar es Salaam. He earned a Master of Arts in Education from the University of York, United Kingdom (2024), and a Bachelor of Arts with Education (Honours) from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (2017). He teaches undergraduate courses in Social Science Teaching Methods, Computer Literacy for Teachers, and Principles of Curriculum Development and Evaluation. His research interests include citizenship education, classroom engagement, digital citizenship, education for sustainable development, higher education, and educational inequalities. He also spent a sabbatical at the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, Norway (2024), undertaking modules in Social Studies Education and Research Methods and Source Criticism. His international experience has strengthened his perspectives on intercultural and inclusive teaching practices and international education systems.
