Dr. Jared Sylivester Bakuza is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences in the Faculty of Science. He completed his Ph.D. from the University of Glasgow, UK focusing on ecology of Schistosoma mansoni. He also holds BSc. in Zoology and Wildlife Ecology and MSc. in Applied Zoology (Parasitology) both from the University of Dar es Salaam. Dr. Bakuza specializes in biological and biomedical sciences and his teaching areas include chordate and invertebrate zoology, entomology & parasitology and vector and pest management. He has researched and published on water-bone and vector-borne parasitic infections including neglected tropical diseases as well as assessment of impact of sanitation and hygienic practices on environmental microbial contamination.
