Chang’ombe Demonstration Secondary School Holds a Career Expo and Mentorship Event at DUCE
On 24th May 2025, Chang’ombe Demonstration Secondary School held a Career Expo and Mentorship Event at the DUCE premises. The event brought together secondary school students, teachers, parents, and professionals from various fields.
Speaking on behalf of the College Principal, the Director of Research and Publications, Dr. Florence Kyaruzi, stated that the event aimed to provide an excellent platform for students to connect classroom learning with real-world professional experiences. Fields represented included medicine, law, engineering, politics, the arts, business, and sports. Dr. Kyaruzi also expressed deep appreciation to the event’s sponsors, Global Education Link and the Medical Stores Department (MSD), for their generous contributions, which helped strengthen the initiative.
In his welcoming remarks, the Acting Headmaster of Chang’ombe Demonstration Secondary School, Mr. Nestory Shayo, emphasised that the event would provide students with practical exposure, inspiration, and mentorship from professionals. He noted that such experiences are crucial for students' holistic development in line with the demands of the new education curriculum.
The Senior News Writer and Communication Officer of Global Education Link, Mr. Albert Kilala, expressed optimism about the event, as their organisation is actively involved in education, healthcare, and journalism.
A team of professionals presented various areas of specialisation, as indicated in brackets. These professionals included Mr. Rober Mushema (Study Techniques and Growth Mindset – Learning to Learn), Ms. Mary Nchimbi (Career Paths and Their Characteristics), Joctam Makeke (Creative Arts),Eng. Selestine Ntwale (Introduction to an Aviation Career),Dr. Mary Kondowe (The Road to Medical Care and Scientific Careers), Mellisa George (Fashion and Its Practical Applications), and Mr. Albert Kilala (Journalism and its Ethics).
