The College Principal extends a warm welcome to freshers
First-year students at the Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE) were formally welcomed during Principal’s Day on 27th November 2025. The event aimed to orient new students to college life and expectations.
On that day, the Principal, Prof. Stephen Maluka, was accompanied by the deputy principals, deans, directors, and heads of departments from both academic and administrative units.
The Deputy Principal (PFA), Prof. Pendo Malangwa, introduced the departments and units under her office, highlighting services that support students’ social welfare, including accommodation, health services, guidance and counselling, and financial issues. She encouraged freshers to make responsible use of these services to ensure a smooth academic journey.
The Deputy Principal (ARC), Prof. Amani Lusekelo, presented the faculties to which the freshers had been admitted and urged them to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to their studies. He reminded the students that success depends on consistent effort and effective time management.
In his address, the Principal congratulated the freshers on being selected to join DUCE and highlighted the college’s preparedness, including qualified staff and academic support systems. Drawing from experience, he warned that many students lose focus in their first year and urged them to exercise maturity and responsibility, noting that the freedom granted at college reflects their ability to manage personal and academic affairs wisely.
