How the paddock responded to one of their most extraordinary – and – eccentric – finishes to your Formula 1 qualifying session in memory…
Martin Brundle:”This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever observed from F1.”
Karun Chandhok:”It was extraordinary. Shambolic and eccentric, I’ve never seen anything like it.”
Nico Rosberg:”You are not allowed to do that, however they were doing it. They’re all bang to rights!”
Paul Di Resta:”I looks silly when you’ve obtained professional teams together with all this technology and everyone overlooks.”
Anthony Davidson:”You put more drag about the automobiles, such as this season, you get a better slipstream. You get that recipe by simply tweaking the automobiles. The straights are somewhat more important.”
Nico Hulkenberg:”We’re all looking for a tow since in case you’d like to do the supreme fastest lap time that’s what you need about this. It has a lot of lap time so powerful. You lose on the straights when you push in your own and you can’t make up that time in the corners. We ended up with these conditions. Obviously it was somewhat bizarre and strange for certain.”
Carlos Sainz: Using those draggier cars this year that the tow is worth a second and everyone desires that half an instant.”
Daniel Ricciardo: Everyone else was merely hoping to find a bit too smart and it merely encouraged everybody to create a wreck.”
Lewis Hamilton:”The tow is vital to obtaining a fantastic lap here and everybody was slowing down, and also blocking the way so you couldn’t really get through. It was pretty dangerous, I crashed a few times.
“I could not overtake anyone, there was flying and pruning, and it was like attempting to prevent carnage all of the time.
Lance Stroll:”This is a bit of a comedy series out there in Q3. Everyone underestimated the time to the flag. I was at the front of the lineup and Nico and games were enjoying he cut the chicane trying to catch me out and that I wasn’t buying it. So I was taking my time, waiting to get back on the right course. Then afterwards other cars started overtaking me and it only became a mess.”
Charles Leclerc:”I sort of expected it since obviously it’s turned into a mess from the start of the weekend, but particularly from Q1 to Q3. I didn’t hope to find myself in a scenario such as the exit of Flip at which the Renault and McLaren was blocking completely the street and nobody could move.”
Christian Horner:”The Renault that went straight on all caused all the difficulties. Obviously, nobody would like to be in the front of the queue and it’s clear he went straight-on on purpose. Then it ends up within a bunch scenario.”
Toto Wolff:”The challenge is that everybody is hoping to have the slipstream and it is a nerve game, who exits first. Then some who have exited first felt thought they will need to reduce the rate even more, extending through the chicane and out of the trail is merely junior class.”
Cyril Abiteboul:”Everybody is talking about the fact that the gap should be quite low, but if that actually happens everyone is hoping to take advantage of every single detail.”
